We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join a prestigious team, specializing in the testing, commissioning, and handover of high-performance yachts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a world-class operation, ensuring seamless operations and superior quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake testing, commissioning, and handover of new yachts across a wide range of models.
- Skipper and crew yachts for local movements, sea trials, handover sails, and offshore deliveries, with full responsibility for the safety of the yacht and crew at all times.
- Manage on-board teams during commissioning, coordinating with internal staff, third-party suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Oversee other vessels in commissioning, supporting staff with planning and advising on boat handling.
- Perform all sea trials efficiently, ensuring yachts meet commissioning standards and objectives.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records in the Commissioning Log.
- Ensure the highest standards of safety, seamanship, and boat handling during all activities.
- Manage end-to-end processes, including passage planning, provisioning, and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to Safety Management Systems and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Assist with boat show setup and breakdown, including working at unsociable hours when required.
- Troubleshoot sailing and technical systems, resolving issues hands-on and collaborating with technical specialists.
- Assist with the rigging, including stepping the mast, fitting sails, and performing basic maintenance tasks.
- Act as crew for other yachts when necessary.
- Liaise with all stakeholders, including high-net-worth owners, their crew, and staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of maintenance and inventory management.
- Provide technical and sailing training to owners, skippers, and crew.
- Support owners and crew with initial delivery passages and provide assistance at boat shows and events.
Requirements:
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of engineering, electrical, technical, and electronic systems on modern sailing yachts.
Skills
- Excellent boat handling and leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Experience
- Extensive sailing and skippering experience, particularly on yachts around 24m.
- Experience sailing in tidal waters and on long offshore passages.
- Proven experience in crew management.
Qualifications
- Yacht Master Offshore Sail with commercial endorsement.
- STCW95 Basic Safety Training (revalidated within the last 5 years).
- ENG1 Medical Fitness Certificate.
