Starting Salary: Up to £16.25 per hour
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer to join a leading yacht manufacturer. The role involves preparing, building, and installing engineering systems on luxury yachts, ensuring all work aligns with current drawings, specifications, and industry guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and install mechanical engineering systems on high-end yachts.
- Work collaboratively with other trades to support the yacht build process.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, including:
- Hydraulics
- Marine plumbing (grey, black, fresh water)
- Air conditioning
- Gas installations
- Engine, gearbox, and final drive installations
- Familiarity with marine engineering installation requirements.
- Experience working with GRP construction techniques.
- Understanding of modern marine engineering technologies.
- Health & Safety awareness within an engineering environment.
Essential Skills
- Ability to install engineering systems in yachts or recreational craft.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Safe operation of hand, power, and bench-mounted tools, including polishers and grinders.
- Experience in metal fabrication, including TIG welding.
Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Prior experience in a similar role within the past two years.

- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with a “right first time” approach.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven surfaces.
- A keen interest in yacht or recreational craft construction is desirable.
