Starting Salary: Up to £16.25 per hour

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer to join a leading yacht manufacturer. The role involves preparing, building, and installing engineering systems on luxury yachts, ensuring all work aligns with current drawings, specifications, and industry guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and install mechanical engineering systems on high-end yachts.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades to support the yacht build process.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, including:
    • Hydraulics
    • Marine plumbing (grey, black, fresh water)
    • Air conditioning
    • Gas installations
    • Engine, gearbox, and final drive installations
  • Familiarity with marine engineering installation requirements.
  • Experience working with GRP construction techniques.
  • Understanding of modern marine engineering technologies.
  • Health & Safety awareness within an engineering environment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to install engineering systems in yachts or recreational craft.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Safe operation of hand, power, and bench-mounted tools, including polishers and grinders.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, including TIG welding.

Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the past two years.

  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with a “right first time” approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven surfaces.
  • A keen interest in yacht or recreational craft construction is desirable.

Competitive starting salary up to £16.25 per hour
