Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

Our client is a leading manufacturer of bespoke commercial furniture, specialising in high-end, fitted projects. We are seeking a skilled surveyor/estimator to join Our Client’s team, ensuring seamless delivery of projects from the concept stage to installation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on prestigious commercial projects and be involved in every step of the process.
Key Responsibilities:
Quantifying the materials, labour, and equipment needed to complete the project. Appointing specialist Subcontractors as necessary to support potential opportunities
Source, engage, evaluate and control costs of contracts from receipt of order through to final account.
Receive tender enquiry and acknowledge receipt of same
Read through tender documentation and raise any questions with the client or architect
Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Take-off quantities and preparation of subcontractor and supplier enquires
Prepare enquiry and send out to various sub-contractors and suppliers with all relevant information and forms.
Ensure effective control of sub-contract tender information
Identify labour, material, and time requirements by analysing proposals, drawings, specifications, subcontractor quotes and related documents and compute costs.
Arrange site visit(s) as necessary
Attend meeting(s) as necessary
Prepare tender and discuss mark-up requirements with Estimating Director
Submit tender in required format on time and if required continue negotiations with client’s representatives
Assess tender documents to propose alternative methods of construction to provide commercial edge
Prepare cost plan or estimate budgets for Client schemes
If successful, report to the Contracts Director and Director of Production and arrange contract handover to the Contracts Manager
If unsuccessful find out why from client team and report to Directors
Identify allowances for levels of labour, plant etc. and report to Contract Manager and Director of Production
On receipt of official instruction continue in the role of QS where required by business needs Liaise closely with Contract Managers to ensure effective communication between departments and clients/customers.
Inform the Accounts Manager of any new client for credit check purposes.
Inform the Estimating Director of contracts likely to exceed £1m in value or which involve work on listed/special buildings, of a complex nature, over four storeys or work outside of the UK and Northern Ireland.
Prepare monthly valuations and invoices to clients.
Prepare weekly labour forecasts.
Confirm and report all variations to the client and/or their representative.
Check all purchase ledger and subcontract invoices against orders / work carried out, to ensure their correctness as regards quantities, price and contract coding and rectify any discrepancies
Reconcile, confirm and report all contract costs to the Estimating Director on a monthly basis.
Prepare and agree final accounts with client representatives
